Geneva's Closing The Gap program helps high school student develop the skills necessary to thrive in college.
"Hi, my name is Samuel Collings and I was a part of the early college program at Geneva College. This program was super helpful, because it was very flexible for my schedule and allowed me to take get a head start on my Core Credits at Geneva. with that head start, I am going to be able to save a lot of time and money, by graduating a semester early. I highly recommend this experience, the professors were wonderful, and tried to be very helpful. But they also didn't take it easy on you just because of your age, they made sure you got the same amount of learning from the class as a full-time student."
"The Early College Program provided a wonderful opportunity to get to know professors and peers before my first semester as a fully-fledged college student. Amidst the many changes freshman year brought, especially as an out-of-state student, I appreciated the sense of familiarity the Early College Program had granted."
This experience which helped Becca to make a great transition from high school to college. She was able to take a limited schedule of classes to get a feel for the college-level expectations and workload without having the full step up from day one. Becca came away with much more confidence after holding her own in a group of college students.
"It was a really good sample of the college experience at Geneva. She had professors that she loved, made great friendships, tried out the dining hall and other meal options and had opportunities to join in the events on campus. Being on campus day-to-day helped her to get a feel for the Geneva culture and the attitudes of the students. We really appreciated this opportunity for Becca, and we highly recommend Geneva's Dual Enrollment program to any high school student that’s interested in going on to college.”
